Well what a busy time at Canning Arts Group. We have just had our 40th anniversary in March with a big Gala Day with the Lord Mayor of Canning presenting our honourable members with gifts for all the work they have done during the years at the Art Centre. It was wonderful to see all our early members dropping in having a chat and catching up on what has been happening at the Art Centre over the years. Teachers caught up with students they had years ago it was good to hear stories of how the Art Centre had changed over time and all the fun and social times we had together.
At the Gala Day we had demonstrations of wheel and hand work with visitors having a play Art, China painting, Glass, Photography,Music, Singing and Stalls it was a fun and a enjoyable day for all
Coming up in June is our Canning Art Award so get busy and make some work for it .You can get information and forms on our web or ring the office and talk to Penni.
Social day on Tuesday is very busy with members socialising and sharing their ideas with members. We have delicious morning teas and not only glaze recipes get passed around but cooking recipes too. It is good to see our older members interacting with new members and helping them solve problems. Everyone seems to have a laugh and a chat and enjoy the day.
Well hopefully it will get a bit cooler now and we can get out and start producing some work again. 2nd Term classes are now out and Arts fun for the children during the holidays . Jill Archibald
