Danica Wichtermann
After recently completing a Diploma of Education (Secondary) as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Art) at Curtin University of Technology in WA, Danica is now a Perth based artist and teacher.
Within her work she has been influenced and inspired by many things, including the connection between nature and our internal world; the systems within the body, the way we grow and the changes we go through. She explores the notion of the usually unseen world, the layers we build up to hide and protect who we are.
She states “we look past ourselves yet try to find ourselves, not realising the truth lies within us.”
Each piece is an individual expression of nature; of self. The intent is not to replicate objects, but to simply translate something seen, or experienced in a unique and interesting way.
Contrasts and relationships are explored in many of the works; from bright vibrant colours, pure smooth white porcelain, mirror black, different textures, shapes and scales, and the play between interior and exterior surfaces. The works are there to be explored, to draw you into their own internal worlds, to be discovered and unveiled.
