For the past 10 years (or so) I have focused my work on Raku. The
reoccurring themes I use are the female form, the West Australian landscape,
especially the north and a particular vessel form. My forms are usually hand
built for the overall organic “feel” I can achieve with this method.
I choose the Raku firing process for its immediacy, intensity and randomness.
Much like a mature body, the result of survival has unpredictable consequences!
Raku firing forces the maker to become truly involved with the entire process of
creation and is a consistent reminder and celebration of the fact that we cannot
control everything in life.
