FORM Building a State of Creativity Ltd. is proud to present two complementary exhibitions showcasing new and exploratory works by regionally-based Western Australian Aboriginal artists working in partnership with some of Australia’s leading craft practitioners.

For the past 18 months FORM has supported artists from two Pilbara art centres to further their interest in craft practice. The project has allowed both art centres to expand their celebrated painting practices to express stories of culture and Country through dynamic new mediums.

Spinifex Hill Studio in South Hedland has hosted leading textiles practitioners Jacky Cheng (Broome) and Paula do Prado (Sydney) in a series of online and in-person residencies to share weaving techniques, and artists from Yinjaa-Barni Art in Roebourne have been mentored in ceramics by porcelain master Sandra Black (Fremantle).

Woven Together and Mara Jinbi Ngurra showcase the outcomes of these exchanges, including exploratory solo works by each artist-mentor expressing their own approach to culture and place.
