Liz Berry

Liz Berry is a professional graphic designer, artist and potter, working with a variety of creative formats including acrylics, watercolour, ceramics and digital design. Liz studied art at Harrow Art College in London and has been a graphic designer for over 35 years.

It wasn’t until 2015 Liz learned pottery, after purchasing a pottery wheel, through some of WA's great potters such as Greg Crowe, Warrick Palmateer and Bernard Kerr.

Her passion for ancient Chinese, Greek, Persian and Egyptian style pottery has led her to experiment with different clays and glazes to achieve an effect of old treasures. Growing up in England Liz spent hours as a child digging up old pottery in her back garden that had been buried for decades, even centuries.

Liz’s ceramics collection include wheel-thrown stoneware, using latex resist for decoration with patterns taken from ancient times and incorporating colours, tones and textures, brought about through experimentation with glazing and chemical reactions.

Liz is currently vice president of the Ceramic Arts Association of Western Australia (CAAWA) and keen to support young emerging potters, giving them opportunities to learn, collaborate with other potters and exhibit their work.
