EXHIBITION COORDINATOR INTERN  ROLE - WEDGE OLD CUSTOMS HOUSE.

OVERVIEW

A volunteer role to assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of the Wedge Exhibition at Old Customs House Fremantle. A premier exhibition of ceramics from around the globe held in conjunction with Wedge, the Australian Ceramics Triennale in October 2025. The exhibition will run from 26 September – 7 October. Anticipated 3 hours per week  from now until 20th of Sept, from 21 - 10 Oct between 14 and 21 hours per week. Flexibility in hours is required. 


The role includes managing logistics, artwork handling, installation support, communication with exhibitors, and administrative duties, all under the guidance and support of the Exhibition Team.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 


Pre-Exhibition Planning: 

  • Creating and maintaining detailed project documentation 

  • Assisting with and Exhibition Design

  • Assisting with budget reviews

  • Attending Exhibitions Team meetings


Administrative Tasks: 

  • Maintaining exhibition databases and spreadsheets 

  • Creating labels and captions for artworks 

  • Assisting with exhibition marketing materials and promotion


Logistics Management: 

  • Tracking artwork transportation 

  • Communicating with exhibitors 

  • Tracking exhibition materials and inventory 


Installation Support: 

  • Assisting with artwork unpacking, handling, and installation 

  • Preparing exhibition spaces including hanging systems, lighting, and signage 

  • Coordinating with installation technicians and fabricators 


 Public Engagement: 

  • Helping with exhibition opening receptions and related events 

  • Supporting and rostering volunteer invigilators 

  • Provide sales support for exhibitors 

  • Provide public with support and answering questions about the exhibition 


Required Skills: 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills 

  • Flexibility and sense of humour

  • Attention to detail and accuracy 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Basic knowledge of art handling and preservation practices 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 

  • Visual design skills (preferred)
