MUD event: Handbuilding abstract forms with Holly O'Meehan

Report by Janet Hummerston

What a wonderful afternoon CAAWA members and friends spent with Holly O’Meehan at the South of the River Potters Studio – Karlup in March (Bunuru).

Holly began the session with a fantastic slideshow describing her journey as an artist, her love of clay and the possibilities of ceramics. The slides on the big screen at Karlup highlighted the diversity of Holly’s skills and the beauty and variety in her works. She also provided amazing examples of her work for all to enjoy.

Holly was very well prepared. The demonstrations she conducted were informative and easy to follow, giving good clear instructions on her construction methods.

She inspired the participants to try her techniques and invent new ones of their own. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, with everyone eagerly engaged in making.

Our CAAWA members and friends appreciated the opportunity to meet and chat with other potters and enjoy drinks and sumptuous nibbles afterwards.

Our special thanks to SORP (South of the River Potters) for the use of their well-equipped studio – Karlup. It is a lovely venue with beautiful light and ideal workshop amenities.

Thank you to our CAAWA members and friends for your enthusiastic participation and wholehearted support of this event. It would not have been the same without your eagerness to enjoy and share your love of ceramics.
