One Day Demonstration Paper clay and Paper Porcelain Workshops with distinguished Belgium Porcelain artist Patty Wouters :

Dates: Saturday 27th September or Sunday 28th September

Location: Susan Flavell’s studio

Address: 15 Dianne Street, Hamilton Hill.

Time: 10am - 4pm

Cost: $140


Maximum number: 10 students per workshop.


Workshop outline

Patty will start with a PowerPoint presentation showing the many different possibilities of ceramic work you can make with paper clay and paper porcelain. She will also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of working with paper clay/paper porcelain and explain the qualities of this material. The first demonstration will reveal the process of making your own PaperClay and paper porcelain. She will share her recipes with the audience.


Afterwards she will give several demonstrations:

  • How to make very thin, large slabs of paper porcelain

  • Making sculptural / architectural forms with dry slabs of paper clay

  • Making porcelain bowls with balloons

  • How you can work with wooden and/or metal armatures to make sculptural work

  • How to work with a slip trailer and create lacework in paper porcelain
